Welcome to Christ Church Primary School

Our school is situated in the heart of Brick Lane, in a truly diverse and vibrant community. Steeped in history and with strong links to a range of cultural traditions, the school is a very exciting and special place for children to learn.

We place great emphasis on our children’s wellbeing and providing a creative curriculum. We’re very pleased to be in the top 3% of primary schools in the country for progress between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 for the second year running.

Church Schools such as ours have a great opportunity to engage with children and families from a wide range of faith communities and those who have no faith at all. It is important to us to hold onto some key theological positions held by the Christian Church.

Firstly we believe that every human being is made in the image of God, and so regardless of their faith or belief we want to offer every single child the best start in life, we want our children to start the journey well and we are drawn to Proverbs 22.6 ‘Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.’

As a Church school we are rooted in the Christian faith that seeks to live out God’s love for the world, and in fact we would want to go further and encourage all of our children to believe that they too can impact God’s world for good. This is captured in Paul’s letter to the Philippians (2.15) where he urges the early Christians to ‘shine among their generation like stars in the sky’ through their good works.

Worship is at the heart of all the main religions in the world and as a Church of England school we want our acts of worship to accompany our education in enabling our children to grow not just in learning but also in love wonder and faith. Psalm 65.8 says: ‘The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.’ We’d love our children to be awed by God’s creation and to wonder at his presence.

Lastly and in keeping with our previous mission statement we want our children to seek to flourish, we believe that flourishing is God will for them, it is at the heart of the story of his love for his people in every generation from the call of Abraham, through to the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus and will continue to be so until Jesus returns.
