Dovecot Primary School

On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Dovecot  Primary School. We are a happy, inclusive and family orientated 1-form entry school with nursery.

At Dovecot, we aim to provide our children with the knowledge, skills, and character development required to enable them to become culturally and globally-aware and to develop into accepting, and responsible members of our community and beyond. We provide an environment in which the dignity of each person is recognised and developed and underpin this with the promotion of the four core British values: democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect and tolerance of others.

We aim for all of our children to leave us with the necessary skills and vocabulary required to succeed in secondary school and beyond; being well read and reasoned children, able to access literature in all walks of life and, perhaps most importantly of all, to aspire to pursue and realise their full potential in the wider world. Our curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced, building on prior knowledge and towards clear end points. Current curriculum planning seeks to address any gaps in children’s learning as a result of the pandemic.

In addition to the above aims, we have our own set of values that guide us at Dovecot and direct our children in their daily school life. We aim to develop our children to be respectful and resilient, independent, creative and critical thinkers, engaged in learning, listeners, achievers, nurturing and enthusiastic learners. We achieve this through living out our Mission Statement: Learning together, Growing together.

We actively encourage parents to become involved in their children’s education and we are currently looking to re-establish our PTA to further support our school family. Our school is well-resourced with talented and committed staff and working together as a school family, we can ensure that children are both happy and successful at school.
