A warm welcome to the website of Forefield Community Infant & Nursery School.

Forefield is a highly regarded and thus very popular, three form entry infant school with an equally popular and over-subscribed 54 place Nursery. At the end of Y2, the vast majority of our pupils transfer to our close neighbours, Forefield Junior School.

Our aim at Forefield is to enable all children to achieve their full potential in all aspects of school life. This is central to all that we do and we seek to fulfil this through the highest quality teaching and learning opportunities, planned through a broad, balanced and appropriate curriculum, in a stimulating and engaging learning environment. We aim to encourage intellectual growth through the range of learning experiences that we offer, developing self-confidence, self-worth and the resilience necessary for great learning. We pride ourselves on our welcoming, caring ethos – an extension to the care and security that comes from family life, which we feel is fundamental to ensuring all of our pupils flourish. It is important to us that we support our young children’s well-being and give opportunities for them to thrive personally, socially and emotionally as well as academically.

At Forefield Community Infant and Nursery School we offer a broad, diverse and ambitious curriculum. Children learn about the world they live in locally, nationally and globally. developing an understanding of how the past has influenced the world we live in today and may continue to influence their future. We aim for our curriculum to create curious and life long learners who are well prepared for the next stage in their education, not only as confident and fluent readers, writers and mathematicians, but as young people who are respectful and knowledgeable in their understanding of the exciting, diverse world in which they live and are keen to play their part as global citizens of the future

Our curriculum is enriched through a range of first-hand experiences and visits: personal development opportunities; a rich programme of extra-curricular activities rewarded through The Children’s University; international partnership activities recognised through The International School Award which we are proud to have been awarded for the fifth time in 2022: 3 focus on well-being- both physical and mental well-being recognised through school’s achievement of The PE Quality Mark in 2022 awarded with distinction.

We work closely with many community partners in order to provide the best for our pupils. Key partners include All Saints Children’s Ventures who provide high quality, wrap around childcare on the school site and offer pre-school places and wrap around care at All Saint’s Church Hall for children from 2 years of age: our partner Junior School, ensuring a smooth transition for our children into Y3 and the next stage of their learning journey; the Local Authority Specialist Inclusion Service and healthcare professionals to enable us to provide for all children’s needs. We work with local schools in the Crosby and Waterloo area including Chesterfield High School where the majority of our children transfer at age 11. We also have special partnerships with schools in Spain, China, India and Ghana which enriches our provision and ensures it is the best that it can be.
Our most important partners, however, are our parents and we value the close relationship that we have with them. We know that working together is crucial to ensure the best possible outcomes for each and every child at Forefield. We welcome opportunities to involve parents in the life of the school through celebration assemblies; Family Learning Days; parent workshops and courses; Parent Consultation Meetings; parent helpers in classrooms and on school visits; FOFIS-our PTA, as we know that we cannot play our role as effectively without this valuable support.

Finally, we are so fortunate at Forefield to have a friendly, approachable and extremely professional staff team, supported by a highly effective Governing body, both absolutely committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all learners: They work tirelessly to ensure that children move onto the Junior School as confident learners, well-equipped personally, socially, emotionally and academically for the next stage on their life-long, learning journey.

We hope this website proves useful and gives a flavour of Forefield. We organise regular tours of the school for prospective parents when you can see us in action. If you would like to find out more about Forefield, first hand, or to make any other enquiries, please contact the school office and we will be only too happy to help.

Kindest regards
