Avanti was started by two friends from IIT Bombay – Krishna Ramkumar and Akshay Saxena. Both came from successful corporate careers. Krishna a former gold-medalist at IIT Bombay and Akshay fresh from the MBA program at the Harvard. Akshay also had a career in Silicon Valley. The goal was straight-forward to give every student the opportunity to study at India’s best colleges.
