Welcome to Chapel Street Infants and Nursery School, where we are committed to providing a stimulating and enriching learning environment for our children. We are delighted to have visitors who make notable contributions to society, and we value their input in our school community.
At Chapel Street, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that includes visits to significant places both locally and nationally, hosting and supporting events and fundraising activities for local and national charities, and a curriculum that introduces children to inspirational figures throughout history. We also compete in local competitions for sport and the arts, providing children with opportunities to learn from other schools.
We are proud to engage with local artists to complete whole-school projects and offer a range of extra-curricular activities that enhance and enrich the whole school curriculum. Our pupils also benefit from visits to local and national theatres, as well as taking part in training sessions with local sports teams and individuals.
We believe in encouraging children to have a growth mindset, where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, and we support them to try new ideas and activities. Our well-being Wednesdays encourage children to look after themselves physically and emotionally, and we provide emotional support to enable all children to reach their expectations, regardless of their background.
At Chapel Street, we are proud to celebrate achievements inside and outside of school, and we encourage individuality while supporting parents to support their children. Our EYFS curriculum prepares children for reception through to KS1, and we offer SEND support that provides children with the opportunities to experience a balanced curriculum.
We are committed to continuous provision and development of our facilities and resources, including outdoor learning opportunities. Our staff and children encourage each other to believe in themselves, and our caring code is ‘Everyone is special, believe in yourself!’. Pupil voice enables children to feel part of the school community and see their ideas come to fruition.
We are proud of our achievements in competing and being successful in cluster and wider area competitions, achieving national targets in areas of the curriculum, and providing opportunities to apply knowledge and skills to STEM activities and challenges. Our phonics, English and maths schemes support children to achieve to the best of their ability, and we set SMART targets for children with individual education plans.
